Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American actor Finn, who featured in beloved television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, per news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
