Multiple Hurt as Rough Air Strikes Delta Plane Arriving in Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta Airlines flight from LA to Sydney was hit by rough air on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier told. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they assessed five patients, and transferred three of them to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries that included back pain and migraines. The injured ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the newest example of commercial jets experiencing turbulence, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
There were 245 passengers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson noted, stating that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.
The NSW Ambulance Service indicated they got a call just three minutes prior to the plane arrived, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
