At the budget last week, the correct decisions were taken for Britain, cutting the cost of energy with a £150 reduction in charges, defending public healthcare and addressing the issue of youth deprivation by eliminating the two-child cap. Steps were likewise implemented that the income generated through taxes was done fairly, with each person chipping in but those with the largest means bearing an appropriate burden.

Due to the decisions enacted, the budget created a more stable economic environment, curbing inflationary pressures and sovereign debt returns. This is vital for protecting our public services, when a tenth of all expenditures by government goes on loan repayments.

Building on Economic Foundations

The plan reinforces the action we have already taken to improve the economy: allocating £120 billion in additional funding in such things as transportation and power infrastructure; introducing significant overhaul measures in a generation to back builders, not blockers; advocating for the growth of Heathrow and Gatwick; and signing trade deals with the EU, India and the US.

In combination, these have allowed us to surpass our economic projections.

Revitalizing Our Country

As I explained at the party conference, the government’s purpose is precisely the renewal of our financial system, our localities and our government. Via these methods, we will stop degradation and rebuild trust in our country.

We will challenge those on the left and right who only offer dissatisfaction and whose approach would lead to further decline. Allow me to state unequivocally, increasing public debt or bringing back fiscal restraint – that is the strategy of degradation and I cannot endorse it.

An Extensive Expansion Agenda

Through remarks coming soon, I will place the budget in context within the broader economic renewal on which the government will be evaluated upon conclusion of this parliament.

For us to realize the national renewal we seek, we must do more to stimulate expansion, to address idleness among young people and to seek enhanced global partnership with our trading partners.

Administrative Streamlining Program

Our growth mission will include a reinforced attention on sweeping away unnecessary regulation. Frequently it was those on the left who have supported restrictions, but there is nothing advanced in regulations which serve only to increase the cost of living for the poorest, to hinder financial expansion unnecessarily, or prevent a Labour government achieving its aims.

That is why I am asking the business secretary to address the category of unnecessary embellishment and superfluous bureaucracy that raise expenditures and obstruct our industrial strategy.

Benefits System Overhaul

Economic renewal also demands that we must continue to overhaul social security. We took over an ineffective structure that caused youngsters to lack basic nutrition and which dismissed adolescents as too sick to work.

We should not endorse either part of that failing Tory system. Hence the reason we will do more to support adolescents in reaching their abilities.

Because if you are ignored in your early career, if you are refused the help you need to overcome your mental health issues, or if you are simply written off because you are experiencing cognitive variations or handicaps, then it can confine you to a pattern of unemployment and reliance for decades.

This creates economic costs, is harmful to our efficiency, but far more significantly, it takes away opportunity and ignores potential. Any Labour government worthy of the name cannot ignore that.

That is why we have commissioned former health secretary to make practical recommendations to help young people with health conditions access work, training or education – making certain they get help to prosper rather than marginalized.

International Trade Enhancement

Lastly, we need additional measures to help our businesses engage in worldwide exchange. There is no credible economic vision for Britain that does not position us as an open, trading economy.

We need to acknowledge the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement significantly hurt our economy. It isn't necessary to have a PhD in economics to know that erecting unnecessary trade barriers with your largest commercial ally will impede expansion and increase expenses.

So one element of our economic renewal will be continuing to move towards a closer trading relationship with the EU. When we can access more affordable sustenance, boost growth and create jobs by having a closer relationship with the EU, we should.

A Meaningful Approach for Major Issues

An economic package built on just selections for Britain must be reinforced with commitment to achieve the commercial rejuvenation that the country needs.

By delivering a big, bold long-term plan, not a set of quick fixes, we will rejuvenate the country. We need to transform once more a serious people, with a serious government, capable together of doing difficult things to reclaim command of our destiny.

Via possessing an unambiguous objective to revitalize our commerce, our neighborhoods and our government, we will implement the transformation we pledged – and then be judged on it at the next election.
