NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates features live text for the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , after recent discussion regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.
But it was positive to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
Denver boast the top defender with CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending more than four defenders but they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled big while recent RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad aiming to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive situations.
It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, plus he is so athletic.
His assets are his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, and using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great composure under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
When you consistently rush it consumes time and makes the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must cover the area vertically side to side. This proves draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him how he wants to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach has won a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they good enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the division.
It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
